PathoGene develops genomic surveillance and diagnostic technologies for human and animal pathogens. It is a joint venture combining the expertise of recognized microbiologists, a clinical pathologist and the proven production skills of a laboratory business executive. PathoGene’s mission is to bring high quality, rapid-detection surveillance and diagnostic tools to private and public healthcare providers.

PathoGene is offering the following molecular diagnostic and surveillance applications:

Influenza Assay: Identifies Influenza A, identifies nH1N1, and identifies Tamiflu® resistance. The unique aspect of this assay is its ability to also identify Tamiflu resistance. While resistance has been relatively rare to date, it has started to appear and is increasing. If nH1N1 follows a similar path to what has been seen with previous flu virus, such as influenza A, resistance could increase extremely rapidly this flu season.

MRSA Assay: Identifies 12 clones of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureas (MRSA). MRSA represents the most visible and prominent hospital-associated infection.

Valley Fever Assay: Identifies common strains of Coccidioides, a fungus that infects dogs and humans in the southwest U.S.
